This past Tuesday, CKL's Director, Bronwyn Rhynd, and Resource Management Planner, Sarah Robson, attended the third event in the 2024 UDINZ Development Pipeline series, sponsored by Watersmart and hosted by Templeton Group in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
It was an evening filled with valuable insights from leading developers on their current projects and the challenges they’re navigating.
Key Highlights:
- Ockham's Carrington Project: A new residential development on the former Carrington Tech site, designed in collaboration with iwi. Each unit reflects the stages of harakeke (flax), symbolising growth and regeneration, with "green" representing new shoots. With the current economic climate providing a strong workforce, Ockham is confident in meeting delivery timelines.
- Kainga Ora’s Pt Chevalier Development: A new residential project catering to the older generation with high dependency needs. The build includes 60 units but only 17 car parks, focusing on proximity to public amenities. While the modular units are manufactured offshore, the project is completed by a local workforce, showcasing a blend of international and local collaboration. A key learning from this project was the importance of managing offshore providers within a local context.
It was a fantastic opportunity to hear from four developers about what’s working well and the barriers they’ve faced in bringing these projects to life.
