We champion all aspects of water sensitive urban design, and one of our directors Bronwyn Rhynd enjoyed her recent opportunity to speak on this topic to a group of third year architecture students at Auckland University of Technology.
She talked through the four basic elements of water sensitive design, and the underlying goal to protect and enhance the values and functions of natural ecosystems.
Looking at some CKL projects, Bronwyn also covered applying a catchment wide perspective to brownfield and greenfield developments, and the applicable stormwater and flood management options.
By all accounts, the students found the presentation really helpful in building their real-world knowledge, and seeing how theories taught in class are applied in real contexts!
