On August 19, 2024, the Waipā District Council accepted the Independent Hearings Panel's recommendations on Plan Change 26 Residential Zone Intensification. This means that from August 30, all residential properties in Cambridge, Te Awamutu, and Kihikihi will be rezoned to Medium Density Residential Zone, paving the way for higher density developments in these areas.
