Many of our clients will be familiar with development contributions, a fee charged to developers which helps councils recover the costs of infrastructure provided to support growth from new developments, from transport and parks, to sportsgrounds, drainage and stormwater systems and community facilities.
These contributions are topical right now, as Auckland Council is seeking feedback on the next stage of updating its Development Contributions Policy, with a keen focus on Drury-Opaheke in Auckland’s south. While this area is in the spotlight now with some significant cost increases planned, the proposal could be a sign of what’s to come across the region.
With public consultation now closed, it will be interesting to see how this matter progresses, and what sort of feedback was received. Do reach out to our team if you have any questions.
